A new affordable housing project has recently been completed in Beverley with tenants set to get their hands on the keys within the next month.
The four-storey high building on Chantry Lane, Beverley, offers 16 attractive flats with a parking space for each flat.
The innovative development, named Charlton House, was constructed using trusted modern methods of construction with the overall structure being a timber frame.
The 16 flats within Charlton House offer a range of one, two and three bedrooms and will provide East Riding of Yorkshire Council with affordable rented accommodation in the town centre which will be let to households on the council’s waiting list.
The overall project cost of Charlton House was £2.6 million and sits on a site in Beverley which had been empty for a number of years.
Lovel Developments were tasked with delivering the project.
Councillor Kerri Harold, portfolio holder for public health and tackling inequalities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Affordable housing projects such as Charlton House are really important in the East Riding and we are very proud to see the end product after many months of hard work.
"The location is fantastic with being so close to Flemingate and the town centre and I’m sure the tenants will be very pleased with the facilities they find available to them when they move in over the next few months.
“The demand for housing in Beverley is always high and the block offers good, proportioned accommodation in the centre of town with parking.
"The rents are affordable rents, which show good value for the local area.
"The ground floor flats offer some outdoor space whilst the upper floor flats offer terrific views over the historic town of Beverley.”
